Cloud Carib Limited, the Caribbean’s leading provider of sovereign cloud and IT services, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Datasur, Suriname’s national data center and cloud services provider, to forge a strategic partnership that will accelerate Suriname’s digital transformation journey. This sovereign cloud initiative enables Suriname’s data to remain within its national borders, governed by local laws and oversight. It marks a critical step toward digital independence, data security, and national resilience.
This collaboration advances Cloud Carib’s mission to build a resilient and interconnected digital infrastructure ecosystem across the Caribbean and Latin America. The agreement with Datasur adds to a growing roster of strategic alliances, following recent partnerships with Blue NAP Americas (Curaçao), Brava (Guyana, Cayman Islands & Bermuda), the Caribbean Data Center Association, and Gaia-X (EU). Together, these initiatives reinforce Cloud Carib’s role as a regional leader in cloud infrastructure & innovation, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.
“This partnership marks an important milestone in Cloud Carib’s regional expansion,” said Victor Kovacs, Chief Operating Officer at Cloud Carib. “By joining forces with Datasur, we are advancing a federated model of trusted sovereign cloud and disaster recovery designed for the Caribbean. The goal is strengthening both resilience and trust by delivering localized services that meet and, in most cases, exceed global standards.”

Under the MoU, Cloud Carib and Datasur will collaborate on:
- A co-branded portfolio of cloud services for Suriname’s public and private sectors;
- Secure government cloud platforms with strict local data residency;
- Disaster recovery and business continuity solutions that integrate Datasur’s facilities into Cloud Carib’s comprehensive regional network.
- Pilot projects in healthcare and finance, including mobile health platforms and secure payment gateways;
“We are proud to partner with Cloud Carib to advance Suriname’s digital transformation and modernization journey,” said Dr. Anvit Ramlakhan, CEO of Datasur. “This alliance enables us to deliver secure, scalable, and sovereign solutions that meet local priorities while aligning with international best practices. It also puts Datasur’s datacenter(s) on the map as a regional target for Disaster Recovery services, in a safe, resilient location outside of the Caribbean hurricane belt. AAs one of the co-founders of the Caribbean Datacenter Association, this partnership marks another proud milestone in our strategic roadmap to “Think global, act regional, and serve local.”
This MoU reflects a shared vision: empowering Caribbean nations with trusted, sovereign, and interconnected cloud environments that safeguard data while enabling innovation and growth. Both companies are now moving toward finalizing a co-branded partnership agreement and are actively engaged in customer outreach, technical assessments, and joint marketing initiatives.
